The Martinez Architectonic Genre Compendium
1,937 Formally Specified Genre Architectures for Writers, Scholars, and Story Designers
A Field Guide to Architectonic Genre Synthesis · Published August 17, 2026
What if genre were not merely a label placed on a story after it was written, but a narrative architecture that could be deliberately constructed, crossed, transformed, and explored?
The Martinez Architectonic Genre Compendium presents 1,937 formally specified genre architectures developed through Francisco M. Martinez's Architectonic Genre Synthesis research program.
Inspired by the experimental logic of Gregor Mendel's controlled crosses, Architectonic Genre Synthesis treats established genres as inherited narrative resources whose functions can be systematically combined and recursively transformed. The resulting corpus expands the reference architecture around Mythotechnic Fiction, Meta-Mythic Delphic Fiction, Ontological Systems Fiction, and their crossings with broader literary forms.
Writers, scholars, researchers, worldbuilders, and story designers will find:
- an accessible introduction to Architectonic Genre Synthesis;
- the Mendel-inspired Genre Crossing Method;
- Mythotechnic Fiction, Meta-Mythic Delphic Fiction, and Ontological Systems Fiction;
- the complete MAG-0001 through MAG-1937 architectonic genre corpus;
- genre impulses and central narrative questions;
- adversarial and authority structures;
- architectonic logic and scale of consequence;
- symbolic materiality and ontological behavior; and
- characteristic expressions for every cataloged form.
These are not 1,937 story prompts. They are 1,937 narrative architectures designed to generate different stories while preserving their underlying genre-level structure.

Three Core Martinez Genre Architectures
The Compendium gives the three principal Martinez genre systems a larger formal reference environment and shows how they participate in systematic genre crossing.
Mythotechnic Fiction
Myth, technology, institutions, authority, memory, consciousness, and moral consequence operate as one integrated narrative system.
Meta-Mythic Delphic Fiction
Recursive prophecy, future selection, interpretation, and self-altering knowledge become part of the story's causal architecture.
Ontological Systems Fiction
Stories examine systems that acquire authority over the conditions, categories, layers, or generative rules through which reality itself is organized.
Companion Research Publication
From Genre Crossing to Architectonic Genre Synthesis: Formalizing a 1,937-Form Corpus Through a Mendel-Inspired Experimental Model provides the formal research account behind the compendium. The August 17, 2026 publication documents the 1,937-form Martinez Architectonic Genre Corpus, its 149 crossing segments, and the structural behaviors observed across systematic genre crossing and recursive recombination.
