Genre and Literary Identity

The Heartward: Furnace and Flame is a dark Mythotechnic fantasy of machine horror, cosmic allegory, spiritual contamination, and sacrificial transformation.

The old world was not ended. It was eaten.

On Zeguntza, the past did not vanish. It was taken into the machine, stripped into pattern, and fed into the deep architecture of empire. Prayers became language. Grief became signal. Wounds became prediction. And from that devouring, a new man began to form.

Vulcanus carries the Heartfall, a celestial relic that does not grant power without judgment. It burns through flesh, memory, and will, transforming its bearer into something more than human and less than safe.

Hunted by an empire that wants to harvest the fire, shadowed by the hunger of Elias Verran, and witnessed by Sera Vael, keeper of the Account, Vulcanus must cross the brutal wastes toward the truth buried beneath the fallen star.

But near the Heart, life does not remain whole. Time pools. Testimony fractures. Events that cannot both be true are remembered with equal weight. The desert keeps every wound, every contradiction, and every impossible vision.

The old man feared the monster outside the gate. The new man wakes with the gate inside his skull.
