I Called You by Name

From the Jordan to the empty tomb, Jesus tells the story of the lives he touched and the life he gave.

In this imagined first-person novel, the Gospel narrative unfolds through the hunger, tenderness, exhaustion, and suffering of his earthly life. He calls fishermen from their nets, enters households broken by grief, and confronts demonic forces determined to destroy the people before him.

As his company grows, so does the cost of following him. Friendship meets betrayal. His mother remains near as his ministry leads toward Gethsemane, the cross, and the grave.

Yet the story continues beyond death.

A companion to I Held Him First, Francisco M. Martinez’s I Called You by Name brings biblical narrative and Catholic tradition into Godhead Gothic fiction. Graphic supernatural horror stands beside the daily work of mercy, carrying the story through the Resurrection and the beginnings of the Church.

Written for adult readers. Contains graphic violence and disturbing imagery.
